Stating that this subject is known by psychiatrists and psychologists working in the field, Tarhan said, “We now apply the childhood trauma scale to every case. We see that childhood trauma is behind many diseases in advanced ages, that traumas are forgotten and later emerge as diseases.”
Tarhan stated that in one case, it was found that the obesity of a 130-kilo girl was due to incest trauma, and that the person constantly blamed herself for the incest and ate constantly, saying, “I must be ugly, I don’t deserve beauty and I have to eat constantly.”
Prof. Dr. Tarhan noted that children should be told about physical privacy within the family, and said, “Neglect and abuse in childhood have a negative effect on the mental health of society in later ages.”
